Well, here I am again and hoping to start back blogging on a more regular basis.  How does life just get away from us..me?

We had an interesting day today.  One of my hubby's clients is thinking about moving to Dallas from Houston.  So...they came to town about noon and away we went.  First lunch...well, what did you expect?  I don't know if Oliver's Eatery is a chain or not but they make fantastic food and it's not real expensive.  So, if you have one in your area be sure and try it!  It was a beautiful day and we ate out on the patio with a very interested bee.  Boy was it awesome seeing us bobbing and batting that little guy around through our whole meal.  Ugh!!

They want a patio home or a town home preferably where they can walk to shops and restaurants.  We found some really pretty ones and hopefully they will contact a realtor to show them some more that are on the market.  We went to two different neighborhoods and saw some model homes.  And then we spun around another neighborhood without stopping.  It was getting late and they were meeting their son in Ft Worth for dinner.  It just makes me want to move into something BRAND NEW.   I love to look at all the furnishings.  I never change mine but it's fun to see how they decorate anyway.

My cousin's son (16) was sitting on a friend's car after band practice last Sunday and she hopped in her car, put it in reverse and then floored it and made a turn.  Nothing good can come from this story, right?  Right.  He was thrown off and hit his head on a curb.  He was rushed to the hospital with blood gushing out his ear.  He fractured his skull.  After six days in the hospital he was finally able to come home.  Kids...I tell ya.  I hope he learned a lesson but who knows.  Heck of a way to get out of homework.

Weenie Dogs.  They are sooo hard headed!  And yet so sweet. They will eventually do what you want them to do but it won’t be until they feel like it.  Like when you call them to come in from the yard.  That’s when they will have to sniff each and every blade of grass on their way inside.  And they may even to stop to ‘smell the roses’ for a few minutes while you plead and try to coax them in.  I now have an easy solution; I slam the door and tell her “I’m not messing with you!”  That gets her little buttinski in gear and she races to the door and whines.  I let her do just that for a few minutes so she knows she’s been baaaaaad!  And of course I reason with her like a child…like that really works.  Not.  But she does know I’m irritated.  Sometimes I just yell “fooooooooood!”  That always perks her interest.  She is a smart little fart!  J

She will only get up on the bed on my side.  So if my hubby lies down and she wants to get up and snuggle next to him she cries on his side of the bed until she gets his attention.  He says “Come here Maddie Mae and daddy will get you up!”  At which point she runs to my side of the bed and waits for him.  It frustrates him so bad but it’s sooo funny!  He laughs and says “look at your little brat!”  hehe

It has rained in Dallas, Texas for exactly 10 days in a row with more to come.

And now you know why I haven’t posted in so long.  My life has been way too exciting.

It was 106 degrees here yesterday and I didn’t feel like doin’ nuttin’!!  The air conditioning was running full speed even into the night.  Thank God for ceiling fans.  They are my life.

Funny thing happened when we discussed replacing the floors from wood to ceramic tile.  The master bath already is ceramic tile but the grout was messed up and some of the tiles began to crack.  He was going to try to fix the problem area when he discovered there was major water leakage from the toilet into the sub-floor.  This has apparently been years in the making.  So, to make a long story short, we’re replacing the tile and the toilet and putting in a new sub-floor.  It was just full of mold.

When we had our power outage back in the beginning of June our frig had a hose leak, also without our knowledge.  Instead of the water coming out to the front of the frig for an easy detection, you guessed it…it leaked into the sub-floor.  And thus the sub-floor warped.  And now our wood is warped.  So…we have to figure out a way to replace that.  Our contractor said ‘no problem, it can be fixed!’  Famous last words.  We shall see.  Ceramic tile might be in our future.

And now onto the pool.  We have lots of ‘junk’ trees around our pool.  Mainly a gigantic pecan tree and a mimosa tree (which is really our next door neighbors.)  Every spring and fall it’s a mess and all that junk goes into the pool.  We had been fighting a major alga outbreak but were getting it under control.  Then the power went out and we lost our pump for 3 days.  We went to take Mom to Colorado and our daughters did their best to help us.  I don’t need to tell you what that meant.  Bye bye pool water.  We’re draining it as I type and then are going to give it an acid bath.  So no swimming on the 4th.

Three major projects at once. In 106 degree heat.  They always say bad things come in 3's.  But, I guess it could be worse…I could be doing manual labor in this 106 degree heat in my bikini.  That, of course, is a joke.

After we returned home from our trip to CO we had friends come to visit us.  They are our friends who live in Mobile and have a daughter who lives here in Dallas.  We always have so much fun with them.  We usually eat out in restaurants all over the city so it’s a treat for me.  I love going to new places.  Nothing too expensive or upscale, just good old Texas cooking.  I especially love all the Mexican joints we eat in.

This visit we went on a tour of the new Cowboys Stadium.  Amazing!  Boy they have not spared a dime building that palace!  And the concession stand prices show it!  $8 for a beer, $10 for popcorn, $13 for a hamburger, etc, etc. Most tickets are around $85-100 and it will cost $20-50 to park and for $26 you can stand and watch the games in the nose bleed section.  Hahaha!   The higher up your seats are the lower the concession prices become.  Isn’t he a thoughtful owner... We went in the locker rooms, announcer booths, media rooms, sky boxes, saw the private elevator for Jerry Jones and went on the field.  There is a parking lot for the players in the basement by the locker rooms.  We saw where the players will come out on the field.  It was really a neat tour even though our tour guide was a major ding-a-ling.  A little boy about 10 years old wanted to ‘go to the cheerleader’s locker room and go through their stuff!’  I had to laugh.  He’s either a pervert or a ladies man in training!  Lol!

My husband just called me a few minutes ago.  He is having lunch with his contractor friend and wanted to know what I thought about replacing all of our hardwood floors with tile.  How many margarita's have they been drinking?  I told him we would talk about it when he got home.  World War ‘a million’ is about to begin…and I will probably lose.  But, life does go on.
